n 1992 just out of high school, Amanda Bossard started her education in marine biology at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage,AK. Bossard launched her career as a seafood commercial worker in 1999. Bossard began working on the F/V Sunset a 65' halibut-schooner that was turned into a salmon tender in the name of Murat Aritan, who was employed in commercial fishing since. Bossard and Aritan are now married and have joined forces to claim their place in their business. They believe in conservative, sustainable managing of the renewable resources for seafood. In 2007, the mother to two kids Bella aged 3 and Andre 1 Bossard then returning to living in Philadelphia, opened a direct wholesale distribution of seafood called Otolith. The name Otolith serves as a loving reference to Bossard's extensive understanding of the biology of fish and her husband's many connections in the business of fishing. They are often separated for 5 months in a row while they strive to achieve objectives in the areas of environmental and financial that show their determination to their independence no matter where they reside. Bossard as well as Isabella Andre and Isabella Andre (ages 12 and 10 respectively) Return each year starting in July 2016, to Southeast Alaska for the summer harvest of salmon wild. Hooks and lines are used to capture their salmon and then join Aritan to sell to local processors for 2 months. After that, they grow their direct seafood market through Otolith Sustainable Seafood.
